About Me

Bill’s background in custom fitting golf clubs and teaching golf started with Titleist Golf in 1989
where he worked in golf club testing and development. His job included custom fitting and testing with players from all the major professional tours, as well as all recreational golfers.
Throughout this time he had the pleasure of working with hundreds of professionals and top
players in the world. Working with and watching top instructors like Jim McLean, Peter Kostis and Rick Smith instilled in Bill a real interest in, and love for teaching the game.

After six years with Titleist, Bill went to work for Callaway in a similar capacity;  testing players,
equipment, materials and anything else they could think of to see what really affects the performance of a club or ball. They used robots, lasers, ballistics cameras, air cannons, freezers, and ovens.

Bill left Callaway to play professionally on the mini-tours for two years. In 1997 he started teaching full time and custom fitting clubs in the Charleston, SC area. Since 2004 Bill has been at Charleston National CC serving as Lead Instructor for American Tour Golf Schools and most recently as Head Teaching Professional. Throughout his teaching experience he developed a real interest in teaching all aspects of the game with a particular focus on the short game. Bill saw so many golfers struggle in this area that he developed a repeatable and consistent technique that focuses on the  fundamentals of good contact. This is the “Short Game Magic” program. Bill is also the regional custom fitting representative  for Titleist Golf, conducting about 200 – 300 club fittings per year at around 25 golf courses on the North and South Carolina coast.

“Teaching golf and fitting golf clubs the last 20 plus years has been a true passion for me.
I actually get more satisfaction out of seeing a student succeed than they do.
I love people and really enjoy teaching the game of golf.”
